Many of you know A/E Clarity, the training and consulting side of our business, but we also perform overhead audits for more than 50 A/E firms nationwide through our CPA firm, D. L. Purvine, CPA, PLLC.  We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Staff Auditor position.  This will be a full-time remote-working (work from home) position, and is an outstanding opportunity for an energetic and hardworking individual to join our fast-growing company.

 

About D.L. Purvine, CPA, PLLC

D.L. Purvine, CPA, PLLC is a certified public accounting and business consulting firm consisting of team members working remotely from multiple U.S. locations and abroad. We provide highly sought-after solutions to support and strengthen architecture and engineering firms (A/E firms). Currently, we provide over 50 Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) overhead audits to A/E firms throughout the country. A number of our clients have complex multi-disciplined operations, engage in mergers and acquisitions and many of these firms are active internationally. Our approach is to earn the respect of our clients as a trusted advisor and become a valued part of their team. The firm has employees working remotely from Costa Rica, Illinois, Colorado, Indiana, and Wisconsin. We are seeking a motivated candidate for the position of Staff Auditor. The ideal candidate will be a professional who wants to grow with the firm, including advancing into positions of increasing responsibility over the course of their career.

Position Offered – Staff Auditor
Remote-work location. The Staff Auditor will report to the Managing Partner and Audit Manager.

Job Overview
The Staff Auditor will be involved in all aspects of the services (both audits and consulting) we offer to our A/E firm clients. The primary duties include audit, special consulting projects and the preparation of financial statements. The ideal candidate will be exposed to different types of work as well as a diverse client base, from firms with less than $1M in revenue and only a few employees to firms with over $500M in revenue and thousands of employees. Because of this hands-on experience and level of responsibility, opportunity exists for significant growth in the firm and profession.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• CPA license or CPA candidate
• 2+ years of relevant public accounting or private industry (for-profit company) accounting or auditing experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP-basis accounting is critical; knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 31 is a plus
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office, experience with Engagement audit software is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently as a member of a remote team without direct in-person supervision is critical
• Motivated to work in a fast-paced environment

Salary is commensurate with experience. Employee benefits include 401(k) with matching, performance-based bonus plan, monthly stipend for medical benefits, paid time off, and continuing education reimbursement. This will be a salaried exempt position, and the need to work more than 40 hours per week at times to meet client deadlines and workload demands is a performance expectation for this role.

Dan Purvine is the President of A/E Clarity Consulting and Training, a firm that specializes in helping A/E firms to navigate the complex rules and regulations applicable to state, federal, and local agency contracts. Dan brings to this role over 14 years of experience in the A/E industry as the Vice President of Finance and Accounting for a large engineering firm. Dan has been providing A/E industry training through A/E Clarity since 2012 and has trained thousands of people in architecture and engineering firms, CPA firms and public agencies. Dan is the former chair of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) National Audit Subcommittee and continues to work closely with FHWA and AASHTO in his consulting role with ACEC to achieve uniform application of FAR Part 31 and the AASHTO Audit Guide, and to better address the needs of A/E firms nationwide. He has been heavily involved in the development of the AASHTO Audit Guide and the National Compensation Matrix, and works closely with the AASHTO Audit Guide Taskforce to continually improve the Guide as a tool for A/E firms, State DOTs, and CPAs. Dan works closely with state ACEC organizations and many state DOTs on issues related to FAR compliance, audits, and reimbursement of A/E firm costs. A/E Clarity provides training and consulting services and through a related CPA firm, D. L. Purvine, CPA, PLLC, Dan and his team perform overhead audits for clients nationwide. Dan also served as the 2015-16 Chair of the North Carolina Association of CPAs and is a former member of the AICPA Council.
