Offered in cooperation with American Council of Engineering Companies/Massachusetts
Join us in the classroom where instructor Dan Purvine will teach you the most up-to-date information you need to know to properly develop and support your firm’s overhead rate.
Whether you are new to the A/E industry or if you’ve been working on these issues for years, this course has something for you. Much has changed in the industry over the past few years, and it’s important to understand key issues like labor costing, compensation, and cost allowability under FAR Part 31 and how they affect your firm. Understanding and properly applying the FAR rules is important to achieving fair reimbursement of your firm’s costs. Dan will cover the key risk areas you need to address to confidently support a FAR-compliant overhead rate and achieve state DOT approval.
Dan will begin the course with an overview of FAR Part 31 and government contracting issues typically encountered by A/E firms. He will also cover FAR allowability of costs, key labor costing and compensation issues, A/E firm internal controls, development of home and field overhead rates, and a detailed walkthrough of the changes made in the recent 2024 revision to the AASHTO Audit Guide.
For those of you performing audits or reviews of A/E firm overhead rates, this course will provide insights into ongoing discussions at the national level regarding CPA audit quality, as well as best practices for effective and efficient audits.
This course will benefit A/E firms, CPA firms, and state DOT staff involved in developing, auditing, or reviewing A/E firm overhead rates.
Lunch is provided both days.
