Course Description:
Join us in the classroom where instructor Dan Purvine will teach you the most up-to-date information you need to know to properly develop and support your firm’s overhead rate and to prepare for an overhead rate audit or state DOT review. For those of you with CPA firms, Dan will cover key topics that will help you to perform better and more efficient overhead rate audits. Whether you are new to the A/E industry or if you’ve been working on these issues for years, this course has something for you.
There is more scrutiny than ever on A/E firm overhead rates, and it’s important to understand key issues like labor costing, compensation, and cost allowability under FAR Part 31 and how they affect your firm. Understanding and properly applying the FAR rules is important to achieving fair reimbursement of your firm’s costs. Dan will cover the key risk areas you need to address to confidently support a FAR-compliant overhead rate and achieve state DOT approval.
Dan will begin the course with an overview of FAR Part 31 and government contracting issues typically encountered by A/E firms. He will also cover FAR allowability of costs, key labor costing and compensation issues, A/E firm internal controls, and development of home and field overhead rates.
For those of you performing audits or reviews of A/E firm overhead rates, this course will address audit planning, risk assessment, and key audit testing procedures for effective and efficient audits.
If you’re unable to attend in person, a virtual option is available to attend online for a half day, full day, or both days.
Lunch is provided both days for in-person attendees, as are printed copies of all supplemental materials. Virtual attendees will receive digital copies of all materials prior to the training.
